Cruelty Free Products for Curly Hair

One of the lesser talked about things when transitioning to veganism is toiletries - there is a lot of information about vegan food, but less about other items that affect your life. I've had incredibly curly hair for most of my life, which takes no end of products to attempt to tame and look vaguely presentable. I used to use Tony and Guy, as it was the only brand I found that didn't dry my hair out, but upon further research I found that they're not cruelty free. So, I have tried 3 different leave-in hair products to see which one I prefer and how each one works!
It's worth mentioning now I still haven't found a shampoo/conditioner duo that doesn't dry my hair. I'm currently using Umberto Giannini, but I don't intend on using it again after I've finished this bottle, so if I find a better replacement I will let you know!

A quick note: I've included photos of how each one made my hair look. I appreciate they all look very similar, but I've included descriptions of how they made my hair feel for more detail as they each had their own effect on my hair!
R&B- Lush, £13.50/100g
On first glance, this appears expensive for the size of the pot, but having used this before it lasted me nearly a year! You don't need much for it to have an effect on your hair. It has a strong coconut scent (so not for you if you dislike coconuts!), and is quite thick, so you have to be careful not to use too much - less is more. It also calls itself a 'hair moisturiser' rather than a leave in conditioner or hair cream.

I find this is one of the more reliable products I used - it pretty much always give big curls rather than it being crispy or frizzy. Though, due to its price, I do tend to use this more for 'special occasions' rather than an everyday product. You can also get this in bigger quantities - £24.95 for 225g, and £47.50 for 450g! Also, being from Lush, it uses natural products, so it appears to be good for your hair.

Creme de Curl - Umberto Giannini, £7.00/150ml
This product is marketed as a 'curl control cream', as opposed to a leave in conditioner. It's less expensive than the other two, but it also appears smaller. It has a floral scent, and is quite thick so again you don't need tonnes of it to have an effect.

I really love this! It brings out my curls really nicely, and makes my hair keep its shape rather than turn into a floofy mess. It doesn't dry the hair out either, though sadly I can't say the same for the shampoo and conditioner.

Leave in Conditioner - curlyellie, £13.99/250ml

This one comes in a large squeezy bottle and has lasted me a few months so far! This leave in conditioner uses quinoa and camelina oil (sounds odd but hear me out on this) to make your hair really soft, but not so soft that it becomes frizzy. It has a citrus scent which is really pleasant!

The Verdict
I honestly would recommend all of these, as although they all affect your hair in slightly different ways, they all give good results! I'd say my personal favourite is the curlyellie one, as I'm still not 100% taken on the scent of the lush one, and I prefer the curlyellie consistency to the curl de creme one.
My next plan is to try and find less expensive products so that they're much more accessible!
