Roasted Chickpea Recipe

Chickpeas are incredible food - they're cheap, can be stored in your cupboard for months for when you need them, and make a really good nutritious snack. They can be added to curries and stir-fries, made into burgers, and the water from the tins can even be made into meringues! (A feat that remains personally unaccomplished)

My favourite way to prepare these is to roast them with some flavouring to have as a revision snack. The great thing about this is you can use whatever you want! Just salted is always a safe bet, but for this recipe I used BBQ seasoning from Tesco! Just check any spice pots you buy just in case they contain milk powder.

Ingredients

  • 1 x 400G Tin of chickpeas
  • Salt
  • Any other flavours you want to add
  • Oil

Method
1. Preheat the oven to around 180°C
2. Drain the chickpeas and lay onto layers of kitchen roll. Remove any loose shells

3. Once the excess water has been removed, spread the chickpeas out on a baking tray

4. Sprinkle any spices you want to use and the salt over the chickpeas, and add a glug of oil. Mix until evenly coated

5. Bake for 15-25 minutes, depending on how crispy you want them. You may want to check around the 10-15 minute mark to turn them so they cook more evenly

Enjoy!
