Vegan Options in Loughborough (updated!)

Back in 2017, I wrote this post about finding vegan food in Loughborough, but a lot of those options have changed since then! There's also new places to add too!

1. Olivia's Bakery

Coconut latte and a chocolate and peanut butter loaf cake

This is a fairly new cafe in the town centre, but it completely outshines any chain coffee shops that are in Loughborough. Every time I've been in they've had at least 3 vegan cakes on display and they do great coffee. There's also lunch options such as the vegan toastie (vegan cheese, mushrooms, spinach, caramelised onion) which look amazing.

2. Nandos

Supergreen and Sweet Potato burgers

Nandos still have vegan options, but they've tweaked them a bit. The supergreen and sweet potato and butternut burgers are SFV as long as you order without mayo. All of the regular sauces are vegan, just not perinaise. They also do a few sides - chips, sweet potato mash, garlic bread, and they've made their spicy rice vegan too!

3. Wetherspoons (Amber rooms / Moon and Bell)
'Spoons still have the 5 bean chilli and burrito, but they also now do a vegan pizza (no cheese) and in some branches a vegan burger. They also have sweet potato curry (the plain naan is SFV!) and their teriyaki noodles have now been modified so they're vegan. (On the menu, look out for a leaf symbol in a circle to denote a meal is SFV).

5 bean chilli

If you'd rather have breakfast, they do a smashed avocado english muffin, or a more traditional english breakfast with quorn sausages, mushroom, tomato, toast and hash browns (no beans though as they use the low sugar ones that contain honey :( ).
Sides wise, their chips and onion rings are vegan too!

4. A Perfect Blend

Vegan sausage bap and a cup of tea (with oat milk)

Another independent coffee shop in town, this place has oat milk for tea and had a few breakfast and lunch options, including a houmous salad sandwich and a Linda McCartney sausage bap!

5. Pizza Express

The carrot cake is a 'smaller' dessert that comes with a coffee, but honestly it's a perfectly sized portion

Located next to Nandos, Pizza express have a dedicated vegan menu and update their offerings reguarly. They do pizzas with vegan cheese and you can customise toppings. They also have 'Leggera Peperonata", which is a spicy tomato pasta dish. If you have time, you should try their carrot cake as it is AMAZING! I have gone with omnis that have tried it and said it's one of the best cakes they've ever had, vegan or not.
For a starter, they now do doughballs with a vegan harissa dip, which in my opinion is just as good as the garlic butter one.

6. Bella Italia

Pomodoro pasta

Again in the courtyard by the cinema, Bella italia have recently expanded their vegan options to include an oomph (soya meat substitute) pizza, a vegan burger, multiple pasta dishes, coconut panna cotta and vegan cheese. Their star option has to be the cookie dough - sadly I've never had a chance to try it but it looks amazing!

7. Centro Lounge

Vegan breakfast & vegan bacon sandwich with chips

Centro lounge has a dedicated vegan menu that can be found on the table with the other menus. They have lots of different options, and sometimes one of the specials they do are SFV. Their cooked breakfast and vegan bacon sandwiches are amazing (and come with beans - take note spoons!) They also have a burrito, and a beyond burger. If you'd rather have tapas, they have 4 options - gyozas, houmous, patatas bravas and a supergreen bowl.
