Vegan options in Cheltenham

Now cafes and restaurants are starting to open again, I thought I'd write about some of my favourite places to get great vegan food in Cheltenham! This is all accurate at the time of writing (03/05/2021) but if restrictions change then so might the available options or the ability to sit in to eat.

These are all independent places, as I really want to support more independent and/or small businesses especially with the current situation, but obviously there are lots of big name places where you can get vegan options in Cheltenham too.

Black Gold Coffee, High Street

A range of vegan cakes

This beautifully decorated cafe in Cheltenham High Street does amazing coffee and really tasty vegan cake (which I believe is from @the.bakers.table on instagram!) At the moment you can't sit in but the courtyard is open, or you can get takeaway coffee and food. They also have vegan lunch options on their menu:

Black Gold's vegan menu

  • Hummus, avocado and spinach wrap, £4.10
  • Mexican bean and salsa wrap, £5.20
  • Hummus & salad with siracha sauce wrap, £5.20
  • Hummus & salad bagel, £4.80
  • Onion Bhaji wrap, £5.20
They also do great vegan milkshakes, coffees, and hot chocolates.

Lilith Cometh, Winchcombe Street

Vegan "chicken" burger and chips

I absolutely adore Lilith's as it's 100% vegan and it's amazing to not have to worry about accidentally ordering something not safe for vegans or cross contamination.

They do meals such as burgers, hot dogs, chips and mac and cheese, but also coffee and cake if that's more your thing. They have outdoor seating at the moment but I can't wait to be able to sit in again, it's so cozy!

The Swan Pub, High Street

Vegan "buttermilk" Mushroom burger and chips

The Swan are a great pub in the centre of Cheltenham. They always have great vegan options on the menu; my favourite was the "buttermilk" (vegan) mushroom burger but it looks like they mainly serve Indian food at the moment. Last time I went I got the samosa burger which was also great, and the serving of chips was enough to feed a small army! They have clearly marked vegan options on the menu which is really helpful when ordering.
