NEW Waitrose PLANTLIFE Vegan Range!

Waitrose released a large new vegan range last week! Some of these are brand new products, and some are a few of their existing ones repackaged. Either way, there's a lot on offer, so I went down to my local to have a look.

Some of the available items (note: not all of these items are vegan, but they are all vegetarian)

This one had half a chiller filled with the new 'Plantlife' products, as well as some 'GoVeggie' ones which are vegetarian rather than vegan. This particular store had:

  • Mushroom and leek sausages
  • No chicken escalopes (new)
  • Moroccan inspired falafels
  • Spanish style no Chorizo whirls
  • No Chorizo Tortelloni (new)
  • Mushroom and lentil Ravioli
  • Mushroom and lentil Cannelloni (new)
  • No fishcakes (new)
  • Pulled Oyster Mushroom Burgers (new)
  • No beef bourguignon with mash (new)
  • Smoky vegan chilli with rice
  • Green Thai style curry
  • Crispy no beef with sweet chilli sauce (new)
  • Dauphinoise potatoes (new)
  • Vegan garlic chibatta with vegan cheese (new)
  • Plantlife nut roast
  • Thai style no fishcakes (new)
  • Tikka Masla with vegetables and cashews (new)
  • Mushroom scallop linguine (new)
  • No duck spring rolls (new)
  • Rainbow Vegetable fritters (new)
  • No chicken samosas
  • Seitan slices (frozen)
  • Mac bites (frozen, new)
  • Mushroom Wellington (frozen)

They also have a couple of desserts in the same section that they've added since I took this photo!
  • Chocolate and caramel pots (new)
  • Vanilla ice cream (frozen, new)

Be aware that the GoVeggie range is vegetarian, NOT vegan. I nearly got caught out as they have chilled mac and cheese bites in the fridge that contain milk, but the freezer ones are vegan.

I ended up getting the cannelloni, the mac bites, the Thai style no fish cakes and the no chorizo tortelloni.

I am yet to try the mac bites, but all of the other items were really good! The canneloni was great with tomato sauce, but it's also just their mushroom and lentil ravioli in a different shape - it would have been nice for them to bring out a different flavour. The Thai no fishcakes were perfect - just the right amount of spice and full of flavour! They were perfect with chilli sauce. The tortelloni was great for a WFH lunch (it cooks in 2 minutes!) and was delicious too.

Have you tried any of the new Waitrose products? Let me know your thoughts down in the comments! 😊

  1. I tried the Plantlife vegan readymade tikka masala with cashew and roast veg and it was superb. Courgette and other veg were tasty and firm. Better than many take aways
